DESCRIPTION:The Victorian Winter Fair committee are excited to host the 10th Annual National Herd Development – Victorian Winter Fair\, to be held July 2024.  \n​The Victorian Winter Fair is currently the only “major” show in Australia catering for Autumn calved cows.  This event showcases those cows that perhaps don’t get a chance to be seen\, as well as showcase our industry and sponsors.  \n​The Victorian Winter Fair is a youth orientated event held during the school holidays to allow for extra family involvement. \n​ For the first time in Australia we saw the introduction of a separate Red Holstein show in 2014 ( run within the main show) which was very popular and will only continue to grow in size as Red Holstein genetics continue to gain popularity. \n​Entries of  over 200 Holstein females are expected with exhibitors to come from all over Victoria\, New South Wales\, South\, South Australia and Tasmania.  \n​The National Herd Development – Victorian Winter Fair Committee look forward to seeing you in Bendigo in July!!

SUMMARY:Sheep and Wool Show
DESCRIPTION:The Australian Sheep & Wool Show (Sheep Show) is the largest event of its type in the world. \nHeld under the auspices of the Australian Sheep Breeders’ Association\, the Sheep Show has evolved over 140 continuous years to become the key benchmarking event and showcase for industry innovation and excellence. \nToday’s show had its origins in a meeting held at Scotts Hotel\, Melbourne on August 28\, 1877. \nThe meeting was held in order to establish the Australian Sheep Breeders’ Association with the prime purpose of conducting an exhibition of sheep in Melbourne in August every year.\nThe show was first held at the wool stores of Goldsborough Mort & Co (1878-1938)\, followed by a period at Dalgety & Co (1939-1956) before relocating to the Melbourne Showgrounds in 1957. \nThe Victorian regional centre of Bendigo\, a geographical mid-point for farmers across the main sheep producing areas\, has been the home of The Australian Sheep & Wool Show (THE SHEEP SHOW) since 1999.
